Electric Bookrest™

Domenico Carrella lives in Somma Vesuviana, a municipality in the province of Naples. He is graduated in Science of Education, he is a writer and an inventor. He also studied for three years at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Naples “Federico II”. He designed new techniques, systems and methodologies to facilitate language learning processes in the developmental age, useful for the neuro-visual and lexical treatment of dyslexic children reading disorder. His major educational, ergovisual and postural innovations have been shared in the school world and applied to improve the study activities of both dyslexic children and normolectors.
They concern:
- the Integrated Ocular Treatment (IOT) of superficial dyslexia with the Electric Bookrest™(EB) ;
- the Electric Bookrest™ (EB): a didactic-isokinetic device for paper reading, which, through the application of the oculo-isokinetic principle, improves vision and learning for dyslexics and normal readers;
- the Carrella visual principle (CVP), for immediate benefits it is applied both in the school world for reading paper and digital books, and in companies, by workers, in front of the PC;
- Ergosedia® with ergonomic seat. It favors the vision and the correct posture both on the paper, digital book and the working tools.
In addition, the author published some handbooks for Liguori Editrice such as:
- “Dyslexia and Rehabilitation”, Vol. I (2011), and Vol. II (2019);
- “Electric Bookrest™ and Electric Reading”, 2013 (second edition, updated, to be published soon);
- “Electric Bookrest™, dyslexia and IOT”, Liguori Editore, Naples, 2013, an informational no-profit brochure translated into various languages.
The author carries out consultations and training courses in public and private institutions to illustrate to the curricular and support teachers, the innovations described, concerning the problems of developmental age, such as DSA (specific learning disabilities), postural ergonomics , visual and cognitive, applied to reading and study in general. Furthermore, it holds conferences and seminars also in universities and companies to illustrate the correct visual, postural and cognitive approach, in front of study and working tools.
